Despite the decrease, the current price is still 44% higher than the average price over the previous three years (2020-2022), which was $85 per ton.

Production and Economic Impact

The indicative price represents a weighted average for tomatoes destined for paste production in major processing regions, including California, Chile, China, Egypt, France, Greece, Northern and Southern Italy, Portugal, and Spain.

These regions are expected to produce approximately 33.9 million tons of tomatoes, accounting for 71% of the projected total production for the next season.

The estimated total value of the global tomato harvest is approximately $5.8 billion.

This comprehensive price and production data is crucial for understanding the economic landscape of the global tomato processing industry for the upcoming season.
